As an organization is entering data into its FutureFeed subscription, there may be situations where a user wants to document certain information without the intention of having it appear on the SSP. This can be related to various inventory items like Tools and Services in the Tech and Docs section and even to Controls and related Objectives in the gap assessment.
This information may relate to specific things like Findings, Observations, or Questions that arise during what is being worked on. Team members may need to be aware of this data as it can enhance the collaboration between users and teams. Part of the collaboration between partners and their clients can be documented through the use of Discussions. It may be difficult to have scheduled meetings every day or multiple times per week, so the Discussions feature provides a way for users to communicate on specific items, within the platform, regardless of availability. There are multiple ways to create discussions in FutureFeed:
- Discussions during the gap assessment
- Discussions for an inventory item
- Discussion in general
Discussions for the Gap Assessment
Discussions can be made for the Summary Notes or Objectives for any control. This enables users to designate specific areas where dialogue can be documented and have a continuous thread. Controls can be complex in nature with the various objectives so FutureFeed provides a way for users to easily form and store organized conversations pertaining to specific portions of a control.
Discussions for an Inventory Item
The same process also applies to discussions for Tools and Services. With the various functions a Tool/Service can have, there may be situations that a user is tasked to review the functionality or purpose of one. Throughout their process, creating a discussion allows a user to document information that is seperate from what would be needed to execute a task. This information can help provide visibility into the overall management of an inventory item.
Discussions in General
All Discussion data can be referenced in the Discussions page of a subscription. Users have the same interactive functionality and editability within this area as compared with in the gap assessment and tool/service item.
