As part of our FedRAMP equivalency efforts, the FutureFeed platform is being updated with a new warning banner that states:
WARNING! This system contains U.S. Government information. By accessing and using this computer system, you are consenting to system monitoring for law enforcement and other purposes. Unauthorized use of, or access to, this computer system may subject you to state and federal criminal prosecution and penalties as well as civil penalties.
Disabling the Warning Banner
Administrators can disable the new banner disclaimer. To do so:
- Click Enter to close the banner disclaimer.
- Click the Onboarding Rocket in the toolbar.
- Navigate to the Settings subway stop.
- Enable the check box next to the Hide FedRAMP Warning option, as illustrated below.
Why is FutureFeed Displaying the Warning Banner?
This is language required for FedRAMP compliance purposes. It must be displayed on any system (including FutureFeed subscriptions) that handles government information. In our efforts to streamline our clients' compliance journey, we are enabling it by default for compliance purposes on all subscriptions.
The disclaimer serves several purposes, including:
- it serves as a reminder that, since FutureFeed is a commercial item that is available to any buyer, if a federal agency were to use FutureFeed, the government might choose to monitor FutureFeed for law enforcement or other purposes;
- it helps federal agencies meet their compliance requirements should they choose to purchase a FutureFeed subscription; and,
- it helps government contractors and others in the government supply chain to meet their compliance requirements should they decide to put government information into a subscription.
To be clear, we are not asserting that the information in a government contractor’s subscription contains any government information. Nor are we suggesting that you should put government information into your subscription at this time since FedRAMP equivalency has not yet been established for the FutureFeed platform.
