Resolving the Yellow Warning for Inheritance in Objectives

Overview

The Yellow Warning Alert appears when a security control objective is marked as Inherited (partially or fully) but does not have an associated Shared Responsibility Matrix (SRM). FutureFeed expects an SRM to be linked to further define the inheritance and shared responsibilities.

In this case, the system is notifying you that inheritance has been identified, but an SRM has not yet been assigned.

Steps to Resolve the Yellow Triangle Alert

1. Assign an SRM to the Objective Inheritance

  • Click on the Yellow Warning Alert.
  • Select the Tool or Service and the related Shared Responsibility Matrix (SRM) that provides the inheritance.

Example: Associating an SRM with a Tool or Service

What if the Relevant Tool or Service Isn’t Listed?

If the tool or service you need isn’t available in the list, you must first add it to the control:

  • Within the security control, scroll down to the TEST section.
  • Under Tools and Services, click + to open the list of available tools.
  • Select the tool or service you want to add.
  • Once added, it will now appear in the list when you click on the Yellow Triangle Alert.

Example: Linking a Tool or Service from a Security Control

What if the Tool is Listed but Grayed Out?

If the tool or service appears but is grayed out, this means it has been added to the control but is missing an associated SRM. To resolve this:

  • Locate the tool in the TEST section.
  • Open the tool, and on the Overview tab, use the SRM dropdown to associate an SRM with that tool or service.

Example: Associating a SRM to a Tool or Service from a Security Control
